As a commonly used tool, what special precautions should be taken when using a jack?

2025-11-20

When using a jack, be sure to carefully read the vehicle's owner's manual for instructions on how to use the jack and the location of the jacking points. Vehicles have designated jacking points on the underside of the body.  For passenger cars, these points are usually located on the inside of the side skirts, resembling two fins on either side of the chassis, approximately 20 centimeters behind the front wheels and 20 centimeters in front of the rear wheels. These fins protrude from the chassis steel plate and can withstand considerable pressure. Therefore, never place the jack directly on the chassis steel plate to avoid unnecessary damage to the chassis.

Based on this knowledge about jacks, be extra careful when changing a tire yourself, paying attention to the separate components of the jack's lifting arm, which needs to be connected to the corresponding wrench and socket before use. Use the jack correctly to avoid unnecessary injury.
